ARLINGTON, VA (May 5, 2009) – Engineering Services Network Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in engineering and technology solutions, announced today that it has named Gregory R. Allen Executive Director for Small Business and Veterans Affairs.

“ Greg Allen brings a strong foundation of supporting veterans and small businesses to this key position at ESN,” said Raymond F. Lopez Jr., President and CEO of ESN, a service-disabled, veteran-owned company. Sixty-four percent of ESN's employees are veterans.

In Allen’s 30-plus years of experience, he has been a strategic partner with the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Defense, Commerce, Treasury and Agriculture. In his new position, Allen will help ESN align with our customers’ mission, goals and strategic plans.”

Founded in 1995, ESN is an engineering, IT and business consulting company based in Arlington, VA, that specializes in military and government contracts and is dedicated to employing our nation’s veterans. Its customers include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, Military Sealift Command, Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies.

As ESN’s Veterans Affairs and small business representative, Allen’s duties include leading corporate policy, strategic planning and business development.

His experience includes working for 8(a), SDB, Hub-zone, woman-owned and Native American small businesses. He has worked with the Small Business Administration, individual agency OSDBUs and large-business prime contractors. Also, he is active in the Industry Advisory Council’s Small Business Shared Interest Group initiatives in support of small business interests in federal contracts.

Through his efforts in support of veterans and small businesses, Allen has become recognized as an adviser to VA senior managers in several administrations. He is a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.

In addition, Allen provided engineering, management and contracts support to various Navy weapons engineering efforts, receiving a letter of commendation from NAVSEASYSCOM. His defense work includes operation of the NAWCAD data center in Patuxent River, MD, and engineering support for NAVSEA’s BRAC-mandated move to the Washington Navy Yard.

Said Allen, “ESN provides the unique opportunity to leverage support for our nation’s war-fighters and HHS support experience to include delivery of world-class healthcare and benefits systems and services to our nation’s veterans, which dovetails with ESN’s goals as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned business.”

Allen is a Navy Surface Warfare combat veteran who served on the Multi-National Peacekeeping Force in Beirut, Lebanon.

“ Greg brings valuable insight on how veteran-owned and small businesses can serve the Veterans Affairs and our nation’s veterans,” said Lopez, a Navy veteran who retired as full commander.
