ESN Coast Guard Entrusts ESN
with Support of National Security Cutter with $6.8 Million
Contract
ARLINGTON, VA (November 23, 2009) – Engineering Services
Network Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in engineering and technology
solutions, announced today that it was recently awarded a $6.8
million contract from the U. S. Coast Guard to provide technical
analysis, documentation, facilitation and project support services
for the U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Acquisitions (CG-9321);
Maritime Security Cutter Large (WMSL)/National Security Cutter
(NSC), under the Surface Program Acquisition Office (CG-93).
The maritime security contract is for one base year at $3.33
million, plus one option year at $3.44 million. If all options
were exercised, the award would be worth about $6.8 million.
“As a company whose original mission is to provide unsurpassed
engineering services for Navy ships and ship’s systems,
we at ESN are honored to be entrusted by the U.S. Coast Guard
to provide a key support role in the Coast Guard’s acquisition
of the largest law enforcement cutter in the Coast Guard’s
inventory,” said ESN President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez,
Jr. “This work is a logical extension of the work we’ve
done successfully for over a decade, and we are thrilled to
be able to apply that hard-earned expertise to a program that
is so critical in protecting our national security.”
The contract began in October.
Under the contract, ESN provides engineering, program management
and technical support using asset specifications for a variety
of mission systems throughout the mid-life of the WMSL/NSC
acquisition besides providing expertise in areas such as combat
systems, air systems, C4I systems, infrastructure and facilities.
ESN also reviews existing analyses and work products developed
for the NSC program from other Coast Guard entities, including
(CG-1) Assistant Commandant for Human Systems, (CG-4) Assistant
Commandant for Systems, (CG-6) Assistant Commandant for Communications,
and the program sponsor, (CG-7) Assistant Commandant for Capability).
Specific ESN tasking includes support for NSC technical (naval
engineering/architecture/shipbuilding operations), scheduling,
data management, communications, logistics and support functions.
ESN officials said the work is being conducted at USCG facilities
in Washington, DC; Pascagoula, MS; Moorestown, NJ; and Norfolk,
VA. This award marks ESN’s first engineering and acquisition
support contract for the Coast Guard, and first tasking within
the Department of Homeland Security.
ESN assembled a team of best-in-class experts in the fields
of CG Cutter engineering, logistics, configuration management,
and project management who are charged by the Coast Guard to
define and refine the NSC project throughout the Production & Deployment
Phase. ESN’s primary managers (Functional Leads) for
each of the functional areas work very closely on-site with
the CG-9321 WMSL/NSC Core Staff.
