ESN President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez, Jr., Nominated for Executive of the Year at Greater Washington GOVCON Awards

ARLINGTON, VA – Engineering Services Network Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in engineering and technology solutions, announced today that President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez, Jr., was named an Executive of the Year finalist for the annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards.

Lopez was among 36 finalists in seven categories honored recently at the seventh annual gala at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, where executives were recognized for their achievements during the past year. Lopez was a finalist for the prestigious Executive of the Year award (for companies with revenues of up to $75 million).

“I am honored to be in such esteemed company,” he said. “But the real honor here goes to the people at ESN who give their best every day to stand shoulder to shoulder with our service members and help them achieve their mission.” Lopez heads ESN, a service-disabled, veteran-owned company that provides engineering, IT and business consulting services for the Defense Department, Navy, Army, Air Force and other federal customers.

Presented by Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce's Greater Washington Government Contractors Council (GovCon), Professional Services Council (PSC) and Washington Technology, the Awards continue the community's tradition of paying tribute to those who set the bar for the industry.

The Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards are the region’s premier celebratory event honoring innovative and trailblazing companies, industry heavyweights and long-term pillars of government contracting. The event was produced by Washington Technology, the Professional Services Council and the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce.

Inc. magazine named ESN one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. in 2009 and 2008, and among the top 100 fastest growing defense contractors in the U.S. in 2007. ESN also was listed in 2009 among the top 500 Hispanic-owned companies in the U.S.

ESN has won several awards, including three Lightning Bolt Awards from the Naval Space and Warfare Systems Command in San Diego and the DoD’s prestigious Nunn-Perry Mentor-Protégé Award for its participation in a mentor-protégé relationship with Anteon.

Lopez served for over 29 years in the Navy and credits those leadership skills with helping him in the corporate world. The values of drive, ethics and hard work taught in the military are what the nation's businesses need, he says.
